On "Claude watermarks its output: what content teams should know"

Watermarking AI output sounds responsible until you realize it only flags Claude, not the dozens of other models teams actually use at scale, and the watermarks strip off the moment someone copies the text into a doc or runs it through a paraphrase tool—so treating this as a disclosure mechanism is naive. Content teams should care about this exactly as much as they'd care about a voluntary labeling scheme: it's theater that makes vendors feel compliant while doing almost nothing to solve the actual problem of AI content detection or authenticity at scale. The real move is understanding that watermarks are a PR play, not a technical solution, and building your content strategy around that reality instead of betting on metadata that won't survive first contact with a user.
