SEO Daily Brief No. 3

On "Blue Planet III is keeping the rough edges in the age of AI"

Leaving rough footage in to signal authenticity is just marketing theatre disguised as craft — it doesn't actually prove a thing wasn't AI-generated, it just makes viewers feel better about consumption. The real tell of AI isn't imperfection, it's consistency, and a nature documentary can be flawlessly shot and real, or perfectly messy and synthetic. If BBC's strategy is "trust us, the scratches are real," they're banking on viewer psychology rather than actual verification, which is fine for TV but shouldn't be mistaken for proof of anything. What matters for SEO and discovery is that this frame—authenticity through deliberate imperfection—will shape how audiences evaluate all video content going forward, and that becomes a ranking and relevance signal whether Google explicitly codes for it or not.
