SEO Daily Brief No. 3

On "Your Next AI Visitor Will Know Who Sent It"

The premise assumes AI agents will actually identify and credit the source of their training data, which is a pretty generous read of how these systems work in practice. What matters for SEO isn't whether an agent *knows* who sent a visitor—it's whether your content survives the training cutoff, ranks well enough to get scraped in the first place, and whether the agent's users have any reason to click through instead of trusting the summary. Blended retrieval might change which pages get trained on, but until agents start sending meaningful traffic or have incentives to route users back to sources, optimizing for "AI knows it came from you" is optimizing for a signal that doesn't drive business outcomes yet.
