The premise that AI search systems operating on the same index materially changes technical SEO priorities is backwards. Crawlability, indexation, and core web performance have always been the job—AI just gives you another reason to do it right, not a new reason to do it differently. If your site isn't clean for Google's crawler, it won't feed AI systems either, and pretending this is a novel technical challenge lets teams avoid the unglamorous work of fixing broken canonicals and render-blocking resources. A "what's changed" framing around AI makes for clickable content, but it risks burying the real message: technical foundations matter more, not differently.
